There is a timetable for admissions to primary schools within the county. This is to give time to allocate a place for each child before the start of the school year and to enable the school to prepare for the child’s entry. Each year parents are asked to apply for their preference on-line via Lancashire County Council’s website:

The Primary School Admissions booklet are compiled by the county (usually before the start of September) and are published on their website. This booklet contains all the information parents need to apply online, admission criteria September 2021 is Tuesday 15th January 2021. The offer of a Primary School place will be made to parents in April.

Children are admitted to school at the beginning of the academic year in which they have their fifth birthday – September 2021. The admissions number for Sabden Primary School is 15 for each year group. Places are allocated by the local authority, who also manage the appeals procedure should numbers exceed 15.

During the term prior to admission, the children are invited for taster sessions in the Reception class and parents of those children are invited into school one evening in May/June when we hold our introduction information evening.

Here at Sabden Primary we offer Nursery provision for children the term after their 3rd birthday. Government legislation entitles all 3-year olds to 15 hours of free nursery provision. Also, if parents apply and are eligible, they receive 30 hours.

However, here at Sabden, we also offer parents who are not eligible for 30 hours the options of “top up afternoon sessions” which they pay for. Please contact the office for more information.

If you wish your child to attend our Nursery you may put their name on our waiting list and a letter offering them a place will be sent out during the term before they are due to start. This will contain up to date information, induction dates and consent forms required.

Informal visits to the school are always welcome
