Sabden Nursery
DID YOU KNOW THAT WE OFFER UP TO 30 HOURS FUNDED CHILDCARE FOR WORKING PARENTS OF 3 & 4 YEAR OLDS?
Children are entitled to receive 15 hours of nursery care each week free of charge until they start school, starting from the term after they turn 3 years old. This is referred to as Early Education Funding. You may also qualify for additional funding, taking the total funded hours to 30 hours per week. However, this is subject to eligibility.
We are able to offer parents flexibility around how and when funded hours can be utilised. Additional paid hours can also be arranged, subject to availability. For further information about funded hours and to check your eligibility, please visit: Get free childcare if you are working

Early Years Curriculum
In our nursery class, we follow the Early Years Curriculum. The curriculum is organised into seven areas of learning:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Literacy
- Maths
- Understanding the World
- Expressive Arts and Design
Each area of learning is broken down into goals and steps children are expected to be able to do by the time they reach the end of the year. These are called Early Learning Goals (ELG’s).
Staff plan topics they think children will be interested in and teach all the areas of learning along this theme. For example, if we teach a ‘Dinosaur Roar’ topic, most of the learning taking place will be around the idea of dinosaurs. However, if children show particular interests in other themes, we can accommodate their learning to fit around their own chosen interests also.
Some of the activities children take part in will be with an adult, either in a small group or individually. The adult has a main focus which she will teach and assess. It might be that a child is learning to copy letters or move over PE equipment with ease or hold a pencil correctly. These assessments then inform us of what the child can be taught and challenged to learn next. Each time a child learns something new, we build upon that learning so that the child can move forward and make progress.
During the year, we track each pupil’s progress, ensuring that all children make progress and are ready for Reception.
