Sabden Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection/Safeguarding Policy, which can be viewed below and in the Policies section of our website.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
We take our role in safeguarding very seriously as we believe all children have the right to feel and be safe.
Safeguarding is everybody's responsibility.
If you have concerns about a child and you would like to discuss this further, please contact Children's Social Care Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 6720 or on 0300 123 6722 (out of hours).
If you think a child may be in immediate danger, please do not delay and call the police on 999.
In the event that you may have immediate safeguarding concerns regarding an adult that works with a child, please contact Children's Social Care Customer Contact Centre on 0300 123 6720 or on 0300 123 6722 (out of hours).
If there are no immediate safeguarding concerns to the child, but you would like to discuss matters further, please ask to speak to a DSL. Where necessary and appropriate, a DSL will contact the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) when they receive an allegation or concern about a person who works with children.
The Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) service provides management and oversight of individual cases of allegations of abuse made against those who work with children.
The LADO must be contacted upon receipt of an allegation or concern about any person who works with children who may have:
- Behaved in a way that has harmed, or may have harmed a child
- Possibly committed a criminal offence against, or related to, a child; or
- Behaved towards a child or children in a way that indicates they may pose a risk of harm to children
- Behaved or may have behaved in a way that indicates they may not be suitable to work with children
The LADO for Lancashire is Tim Booth, who is contactable on 01772 536694.
The NSPCC has some excellent information about identifying the signs, symptoms and effect of child abuse and neglect. It also has a wealth of information to support your child with mental health and wellbeing.
